A man had a simple goal: Take his plan to make an ordinary dish to a social fundraising site to see what happened.

So Zack Danger Brown posted his Potato Salad recipe on Kickstarter. 

"I'm making potato salad," he wrote

He asked for nothing but got a lot. And the getting is still coming.

Buzzfeed came in for an interview once the fundraising reached eyebrow raising levels before the Fourth of July. 

"I've always enjoyed potato salad at Memorial Day parties and Labor Day parties," said Brown, 31, co-founder of the startup Base Two Interactive in Columbus, Ohio, according to Buzzfeed. "Early this week someone asked if I'd ever made potato salad and I couldn't say that I had. So I turned to Kickstarter to change that.".

And there are 24 days to go with his Kickstarter fundraising.

For a $50 pledge, Brown promises supporters will "receive a recipe book with potato salad recipes inspired by each country where we have a backer..." and more. 

From Columbus, Ohio, Brown says in his bio only that he is "the guy who will be making the potato salad."

Apparently, he will be making a lot of it.

Aunt Birdie was 102 when she died in 1980. But she was still making her famous potato salad, and it was still wonderful. This is a very spare salad - quite unlike the mayonnaise version you may be used to - but it brings out all the sweetness of the potatoes. It gets better as it sits; I like it best on about day 3.

3 pounds small potatoes

Pepper and salt to taste

1/2 cup white vinegar

1/3 cup oil

1 or 2 onions

1 tablespoon sugar

Boil potatoes in jackets, when cool enough to handle peel and slice.

Cut onions and mix into the potatoes.  Season with salt, pepper and sugar.  Over this add oil, mix.

Dilute vinegar with a little water, bring to a boil and add this while hot over the potatoes.  Mix well.

Ingredients

6 medium boiling potatoes (2 pounds)

1 1/2

cups mayonnaise or salad dressing

1

tablespoon white or cider vinegar

1

tablespoon yellow mustard

1

teaspoon salt

1/4

teaspoon pepper

2

medium celery stalks, chopped (1 cup)

1

medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)

4

hard cooked eggs, chopped

Directions

1Scrub potatoes. Leaves skins on if desired, or peel thinly and remove eyes.

2Heat 1 inch water (salted if desired) to boiling; add potatoes. Cover and heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cook 30 to 35 minutes or until potatoes are tender; drain. Cool slightly; cut into cubes (about 6 cups).

3Mix mayonnaise, vinegar, mustard, salt and pepper in 4-quart glass or plastic bowl. Add potatoes, celery and onion; toss. Stir in eggs. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours.
